The rock carvings in Ghadah, Unaizah Governorate, have always attracted local residents as a tourist destination. It is located among the golden sands in Ghadah Park on the southwestern side of the province, approximately 21 km from the so-called Dhala Road.
Researchers have found that the rock carvings depicted on a rectangular black mound about one kilometer long, extending from east to west, date back to the ancient period. It includes both animal and human elements.
Petrified wood was also used for carving, and researchers found part of a column one meter long and 42 centimeters in diameter.
The rock art site is protected by a fence under the constant supervision of the Heritage Authority.
Authorities stated that the site in Ghadah Park is an «archaeological spatial memory of ancient civilizations,» which documented their history and experience on the Arabian Peninsula.
