The Grand Mosque in Mecca is fully ready to receive pilgrims and worshippers on Friday, the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques reported.
This Friday will be one of the busiest of the year, as many pilgrims have already arrived in Mecca ahead of the Hajj, which begins on the 8th of Dhu al-Hijjah (July 7).
The Presidency has deployed 400 staff members to receive worshippers and pilgrims, direct them to the Mataf and various other prayer areas, and regulate entry to and exit from the Grand Mosque.
Cleaning and sterilization operations have also been intensified, and the amount of Zamzam water distributed to visitors has increased.
Around 4,000 staff members clean the Grand Mosque ten times a day, using 13,000 liters of disinfectants.
Around the mosque, 25,000 Zamzam containers are distributed, 20 «smart» carts holding 80 liters of water are in operation, and 516 drinking fountains are available.
600 staff members have been assigned at the mosque's doors to greet visitors and guide them to the appropriate locations, organize entry and exit, and support security personnel in diverting and directing worshippers when prayer areas become full.
100 staff members are ready to help pilgrims perform Tawaf and other rituals in the correct manner, the president added.
