A total of 282,523 pilgrims from around the world had arrived in Medina as of Sunday to perform the Hajj this year. Data published by Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Hajj and Umrah showed that 227,420 worshippers arrived in the Kingdom through Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport, while another 43,276 people arrived by land. Most of the visitors were Bangladeshis (13,041 people), followed by 9,883 Nigerians, 8,676 Indians, 6,330 Iranians and 6,023 Pakistanis.
Ministry data also showed that 171,606 pilgrims had left Medina over the past few days and headed to the holy sites in Mecca. On Sunday, the number of worshippers staying in Medina exceeded 95,194 people.
Meanwhile, officials at the Halat Ammar border crossing continue their efforts to receive pilgrims from abroad through an integrated system of services provided by civilian, military and government agencies.
These services are aimed at better assisting pilgrims and improving the quality of services provided by the Saudi Arabian government, from the moment pilgrims arrive in the Kingdom on their way to the holy sites until their return to their countries.
