According to Almosafer, the number of bookings in Saudi Arabia in June exceeded the pre-pandemic level by 28 percent compared to the same month in 2019.
The Kingdom's multi-channel travel brand stated that the increase in bookings indicates strong demand for travel, as demand rose with the easing of pandemic restrictions worldwide.
Almosafer's «Saudi Arabia Summer Travel Trends» study showed that travelers from the Kingdom prefer to book accommodation in luxury rooms, with five-star hotels accounting for nearly 50 percent of hotel bookings this summer.
The average booking order value increased by 66% for hotels and 19% for flights compared to the 2019 summer travel season.
According to the report, domestic tourism grew by 7 percent as locals continued to explore the Kingdom's attractions. In Abha, the capital of the Asir region, the number of bookings increased by 125% compared to the summer of 2019.
Dubai, London, Cairo, Paris, and Sharm El-Sheikh remained the most popular international destinations for travelers from Saudi Arabia.
The report stated that the number of bookings in London increased by 133 percent compared to the summer of 2019, driven by the introduction of the electronic visa-free regime for Saudi citizens on June 1, 2022.
Regarding the most popular destinations, with the announcement of the exemption of Saudi citizens from entry visas to visit Thailand on June 7, the country became one of the most popular destinations for international travel.
