Violators of the Hajj face a fine of 10,000 Saudi riyals.
People attempting to perform the Hajj without a permit face a fine of $2,666, Saudi Arabia's security service said in a statement on Wednesday.
An official spokesman for the authorities said that pilgrims must obtain a Hajj permit from the relevant organizations before attempting to perform the Muslim rituals.
In a statement published on Twitter, Brigadier General Sami bin Mohammed Al-Shuwayrkh urged pilgrims to strictly follow Hajj instructions, while emphasizing that security forces «will carry out their duties» to secure the routes leading to the Grand Mosque in Mecca and the other holy sites in order to prevent any violations.
Saudi Arabia previously said it had allowed more than one million pilgrims from abroad to perform the Hajj this year, for the first time in two years of COVID-19 restrictions that limited the pilgrimage to residents of the Kingdom.
