The General President for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al-Sudais, announced the completion of preparations for the third Saudi expansion of the Grand Mosque.
He stated that all floors, roofs, and courtyards of the Grand Mosque are ready to receive the largest number of pilgrims and visitors, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The expansion was designed using architectural and engineering details borrowed from ancient Islamic heritage, in accordance with modern design principles and the use of technical capabilities to achieve the aesthetic and practical purpose, SPA added.
Hamoud bin Saleh Al-Iyadah, Deputy General President, said that Saudi Arabia's third expansion included 22 domes, of which 12 were movable glass domes, six fixed glass domes on the second floor, and four fixed domes in the middle halls on the second floor.
Al-Sudais expressed gratitude to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their support of the two holy mosques and their visitors.
