More than two and a half million Muslims from all over the world perform in Saudi Arabia the main rite of the Hajj – standing on Mount Arafat. Each participant must pass this test, otherwise the pilgrimage will be invalidated.
To perform the ritual, the pilgrims walked 25 kilometers. On Saturday, from dawn to dusk, believers pray to atone for their sins. It was from here, from a 70-meter granite hill, that the prophet Muhammad addressed his followers with a farewell sermon, who explained the foundations of Islam.
According to legend, on Mount Arafat, Adam was reunited with Eve after being expelled from paradise and received forgiveness.
On Sunday, Muslims will perform the ritual of beating the devil on the El Jamarat bridge. Its meaning is to resist the devil who tempts people.
The Hajj will end with the Feast of the Sacrifice.
