Who is obliged to perform the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca and Umrah in 2027?
Every sane adult Muslim man or woman should strive to perform Hajj.
But it becomes mandatory when several conditions are met:
- Maturity and common sense;
- Physical ability to perform the pilgrimage;
- The financial ability to travel and leave funds to meet the needs of your family;
- No debt obligations;
- Women must be accompanied by their husbands, fathers or other male guardians.
If a Muslim has the means but is physically unable to perform the Hajj rituals, he can send an authorized person to perform them in his place.
Prohibited Activities in Hajj 2026-2027
To perform the pilgrimage rituals, one must be in ihram, a special state of detachment from worldly concerns. One must also wear a special white garment, also called ihram, made of two strips of material not sewn together. The following rules must be observed during the Hajj.
A person performing Hajj may not:
